Recall what I've mentioned before, our church's demographic pyramid is as pyramid as it gets. This means that there are a lot of small saints, many of whom have cosmic levels of energy. Parents are tasked with raising children that are mindful of others. Our worship service is probably the principle place where kids under five are being tasked with sitting still for over an hour...maybe longer if I get really carried away with the preachin'. At the conclusion of the service it can be like a rubber band releasing all its tension and shooting off with all that potential energy. But I'd like for parents to labor to instruct their kids to walk not run through the sanctuary.
Further, it is your job to oversee that your kids are following such manners. As we commonly say, "Manners are love in the trifles." Catechism class is resuming, so that would be a good place for your kids to direct their energy after the service. Also, I'm going to begin handing out the chocolate kisses at the top of the stairs, instead of by the main door. All told, we love having the boatload of children around, but parents must be diligent and vigilant in training.
Now, another avenue for considering one another. Our service has been nice and full. Our hope is to stay in one service as long as possible. With that, the deacons are planning to adjust some of the seating, beginning this week, to make that happen. Please endeavor to fill up the sanctuary front to back. If you have kids that are past the squirmy stage, please seat further forward. Also, try to sit as efficiently as possible, and make sure to invite lonesome college students to fill up any seats that might be open in your row.
Speaking of college students...
 The burritos before the worship service were a big hit, and so we've decided to continue it through at least the month of September. Our hope is that it is a particular way to bless college students, but anyone is welcome to come early for some fellowship.
Two things to flag for you all. First, please make an effort to join in the effort to defeat Prop 1 by volunteering a few hours each Saturday to knock on doors. The kick-off event is tomorrow, details below.
Secondly, instead of a men's forum this Sunday evening, I'd like to invite anyone interested to a forum at Chalmers Hall where we can do some Q&A on courtship. More details below.
