A Light in a Dark Place

When all the boys keep crying, “Wolf!” it becomes easier and easier to ignore them. Modern doomsday prophets foretell that global warming, AI-bots, aliens, or lab-made zombie viruses will kill us all. But what if someone you really trusted and looked up to assured you that they were utterly convinced some particular calamity was imminent? The early church was faced with this tension. Jesus had claimed He would come in unmistakable judgement on both apostate Israel and pagan Rome. There was just one little problem. It hadn’t yet happened.
